KANELO ALVAREZ

“It’s easy to say you’re going to beat me, but it’s much harder to do it. Saturday night will be very difficult for him. I’m prepared for the KO. I love the feeling of a KO and I’m going to do my best to make it happen.

“I can’t wait for Saturday night. It’s going to be a great game for the community. Mexico vs. Puerto Rico is always exciting.

“It is an honor to fight on this date. Mexican Independence Day is very important to us. Today is very special and I am very proud to fight for the Mexican people.

“I always give 100% in fights and training, no matter who I fight. My mentality is the same in every fight. This is no exception. I had a great training camp and I am ready.

“The fans are everything to me and I appreciate them. They support me no matter what and I thank everyone who has supported me throughout my career.

“I just want to show everyone that I’m still the best. I still love this sport. When I stop loving it, you’ll know. I love my routine and I love going to the gym every day.”

EDGAR BERLANGA

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Team Berlanga. It’s going to be a great fight this weekend. On Saturday night, I’m going to make everyone believe. We’re going to have Puerto Rico vs. Mexico and we’re going to fight on Saturday night.

“I’m a great fighter. Every fighter wants a knockout. We know he’s a legend and we can’t just go all out. We have to do it the right way. A knockout in the sixth round, that’s what we’re aiming for. But we’re ready for all 12 rounds if we have to.

“It’s going to be a big fight on Saturday and it’s going to be something incredible. It’s the calm before the storm. We’re going to make history and become legends.

“Being in this position means everything. I shouldn’t be here. I’ve been doubted since before I became a professional player. But I knew I would end up in this position.

“I can be the face of Puerto Rican boxing after Saturday night. I’ve wanted to do it for years and now it’s my turn to do it.”

EDDY REYNOSO, CaneloManager & Coach

“We trained hard because we knew we were facing a young fighter who would take over our position. Berlanga is strong and he wants to prove himself against Canelo.

“We have trained very carefully for the fight. We have everything we need for Berlanga and we will make history.”

MARK FARRAIT, Berlanga Coach

“We are very excited about this opportunity. We trained very hard, because we know this fight is not about physicality or size. It is about experience and intelligence, which Canelo According to Edgar there is not one. We are here to make a statement and show the world our patience and execution.

“I know Canelo will come out and fight smart. He won’t fight Edgar right away. Because if he does, there will be a commotion right from the start. This is our chance to take the king down.”

TOM BROWN, President TGB Promotions

“This is a very exciting event scheduled for Saturday night. It’s a great fight from top to bottom and that’s what big-time boxing is all about. We have the biggest star in boxing in the world. Canelo Alvarez headlines Mexico’s Independence Day Weekend. It doesn’t get much better than that.

“It’s a Mexican holiday and Canelo proudly representing the hard-working Mexican fans who came here this holiday weekend to watch their star play. This was Mexico versus Puerto Rico and they were playing for national pride. But on Saturday night, it was all about Mexican pride.

EDDIE HEARN, Chairman of Matchroom Sport
