The ATP rankings have always been a determining factor in many things in tennis. The rankings often change because the difference is smaller. Meanwhile, on other occasions, players manage to gain a big advantage over their opponents.

The ranking system has undergone many changes in recent decades. Players like Lleyton Hewitt (9,890 points), Andy Roddick (9,852) and Carlos Alcaraz (9,815) have all come close to the 10,000 mark.

Meanwhile, tennis stars from before the 1990s will not be included in the list due to the ranking changes. With that in mind, let’s take a look at eight tennis players who have broken the 10,000-point mark in the ATP rankings.

8. Andre Agassi: 10,739 points

Eight-time Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi spent 101 weeks as the world No. 1. On August 21, 1995, he had amassed a total of 10,739 points after winning the 1994 US Open and the 1995 Australian Open. He also won the Paris Masters in 1994.

7. Daniil Medvedev: 10,780 points

In the last few months of 2021, the rivalry between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev has heated up. The two tennis stars have faced each other in various finals.

Interestingly, Daniil Medvedev defeated Djokovic in three straight sets to win the 2021 US Open. Then in February 2022, he reached a total of 10,780 points while Novak Djokovic became the leader with 12,133 points.

6. Pete Sampras: 11,005 points

One of the greatest tennis players, Pete Sampras managed to collect a total of 11,005 points on November 8, 1997. With this achievement, he also became the first player to reach 11,000 points in the ATP rankings.

The former American tennis star was the Australian Open, Wimbledon, Cincinnati Masters and Paris Masters champion at the time.

5. Jannik Pensin – 11,180 points

In June 2024, Jannik Sinner became the first Italian male tennis player to become the world number 1. Sinner won six titles in the 2024 season and reached the quarterfinals in every competition he entered.

He lifted trophies at the Australian Open and US Open, along with the Miami Open, Cincinnati Masters, Halle Open and Rotterdam Open.

3. Rafael Nadal: 15,390 points

In 2009, Rafael Nadal became the second tennis player to surpass 15,000 ATP points. He accumulated a total of 15,390 points on April 20, 2009. The “King of Clay” was the French Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open champion at the time.

Additionally, he holds titles at the Canadian Open, Indian Wells Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Barcelona Open, German Open, and Queen’s Club Championships.

2. Roger Federer: 15,903 points

Swiss maestro Roger Federer was unfazed by the first position in the rankings from February 2, 2004 to August 17, 2008. Continuing his performance, he surpassed the 15,000-point mark in November 2006. Roger Federer collected a total of 15,903 points and became the first player in history to do so.

During that time, he won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. He finished as runner-up at the French Open and also won the ATP Finals.

1. Novak Djokovic: 16,950 points

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic tops the list with a massive total of 16,950 points. He achieved this total on June 6, 2016. During that time, he won all four Grand Slams. He won Wimbledon and the US Open in 2015.

Additionally, he won titles at the Australian Open and the French Open in 2016. Interestingly, it was Djokovic’s first Roland-Garros title.
